Financial Statement Assurance Levels:
Level 1 – Audit: Offering the highest level of assurance, Audits provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements are prepared in accordance with authority standards like GAGAS.
Level 2 – Review: Offering limited assurance, Reviews are designed to see whether the financial statements make sense, without applying audit-type tests.
Level 3 – Compilation: A compilation carries no degree of assurance and involves taking financial information provided by a company and compiling it in a proper financial statement.
Other Assurance Services:
Agreed Upon Procedures: An engagement in which a company outlines when it hires an external party to perform an audit on a specific test or business process. The procedures are designed and agreed upon by the entity conducting the audit, as well as any appropriate third parties.
